What is the new norm for someone in a job search?

More money – that is the natural answer to the question, what do you want in a new position? Don’t get me wrong, money will always be in the top 3 of wants but it is no longer the overall #1. As our daily lives continue to change with technology, we begin to crave more independence because technology can allow us this new luxury. Once people have a taste for it, they generally want some part of their position to offer this independence. We begin to understand that work and personal interest are not incompatible. You want to take a pottery class, it is once a week, your company allows you to work from home on that day. No worrying about rush hour, no worrying about having enough time for dinner with the family before class. You can put your focus on work the entire day because the possible distractions to your independent interest does not exist.
